Welcome to Paperblock (“Paperblock,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of paperblock.org and any related pages, newsletters, and services (collectively, the “Service”).

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1) Operator and community nature

Paperblock is a community-driven publishing project maintained by volunteers, with operational stewardship provided by Wire Labs Ltda. (“Operator”). The Service is provided on a best-effort basis and may change over time.

2) Eligibility

You may use the Service only if you can form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.

Some features may require an account or subscription, including subscribing to newsletters or signing in via an emailed link. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any sign-in links or credentials and for activities that occur under your account.

We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe your account is being used unlawfully or in violation of these Terms.

4) Content and intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, Paperblock, the Operator, and/or licensors own the Service and its content, including text, graphics, logos, and site design (“Content”).

You may access and use the Content for personal use or internal business reading and sharing with attribution and a link back to Paperblock. You may not:

  • reproduce, republish, or redistribute substantial portions of Content for commercial purposes without written permission;
  • remove copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices; or
  • use our branding in a way that implies endorsement without permission.

5) Community contributions and editorial scope

Articles may be authored by community contributors and reflect the authors’ views. Paperblock may curate, edit, or decline submissions to maintain editorial scope and quality. Paperblock does not guarantee completeness, timeliness, or accuracy of any Content.

6) Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • disrupt or compromise the Service (e.g., hacking, introducing malware, probing vulnerabilities, abusive-rate scraping);
  • publish unlawful, deceptive, or harmful content;
  • infringe intellectual property rights; or
  • use the Service to send spam or unsolicited communications.

The Service may reference or link to third-party websites or tools. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk.

Paperblock publishes research and commentary for informational purposes only. Nothing on the Service constitutes financial, investment, legal, accounting, or tax advice. No content should be relied upon as a substitute for professional advice tailored to your circumstances.

You are solely responsible for decisions you make based on information from the Service.

9) Community-run service; no guaranteed support

Because Paperblock is community-run, we do not provide guaranteed support, uptime, maintenance windows, or response times. The Service may be modified, interrupted, or discontinued at any time.

10) Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, Paperblock disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

11) Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Paperblock and the Operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill arising from or related to your use of the Service.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it will be limited to the minimum amount required by law.

12) Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Paperblock, the Operator, and contributors from claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your User Content (if any), or violation of these Terms.

13) Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms or if required to do so by law.

14) Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date indicates when changes were made. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

15) Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be brought in the courts located in Florianópolis, Brazil.
